Forgiving Strength

You masked your truths in clever lies, With subtle snares and alibis. Because of that, it’s always been, so hard to find the real within.

You wounded me with fleeting gain,
But I’ve released the weight of pain.
Forgiveness grew where anger burned,
A softer strength my soul has learned.

I will not curse the love we shared,
For once, my heart was open, bare.
Though broken glass was in your hands,
I chose to heal, not make demands.

I care, not out of weakness now,
But from the grace that I allow.
Though you may never see what’s true,
I’ve kept my kindness, not for you,

I keep the peace you could not hold,
A quiet grace, a heart consoled.
I wish I’d known if your heart was ever true,
Yet still my care remains for you.
