“The Importance of Grounding”

July 11, 2018

How often do you experience strange dreams? These dreams can seem very life-like and leave you feeling as if it were actually reality. You may even find yourself aware while in your dream state. This is called Lucid Dreaming. Every night before I go to bed, I scroll through my library of guided meditations and pick the one that feels right to me on that specific night (I usually pick them according to how my day went). Last nights meditation was quite bizarre, up until I understood the meaning and message behind it. Screenshot_20180711-114354I found myself without shoes, standing at the top of the earth. I began to feel an unusual pressure at the soles of my feet. When I looked down at my feet, there appeared to be tree roots growing out from under them. The roots began to grow out slowly and then sped up, deep down into the earth. I felt a warm and deep connection, almost as if I too, were part of the earth. Suddenly, I saw a white light glowing over my head and around my feet. While observing my surroundings, I see another version of myself, walking through a very low-income neighborhood. There were no streets, only gravel roads. The houses were made of straw and the people did not have many clothes or anything to eat. I felt very close to them for some reason. Almost as if that were “me” in a past life.

Roots are symbols for a solid ground, settling down, and stability in your life. It is the unconscious or mental energy in your life.  There is a positive energy force in your life, helping for things to settle down or fall into place. This is a time in your life that you need to consider what you truly want in your life, and to be sure that the roots you are placing are where you want to be. The choices that you are currently making are long-lasting ones, that will not easily be broken if you changed your mind. You may be on the verge of a breakthrough revelation about yourself.

The Roots that are growing into the earth represent your need to be in contact with reality; or a real life situation. This is your connection to the earth and all that is; you are well anchoring yourself. You are getting grounded. As far as being barefoot in a dream, it’s often represented as an omen of a pretty big change. These are situations where you’re aware of your morals or principles being tested. Your conduct of faithfulness and honesty is being noticed by others. You are exploring your life direction and taking a path that will allow you to express your true attributes and strengths. You are returning to your authentic nature. Dreaming about a possible “past life“, involves your soul. The dream may be showing you aspects of yourself that have either changed or need your attention. The connection that one feels to the people surrounding you in the dream, is the feelings of empathy growing within you. It is your connection to the earth as well as those whom cross your path.

Being grounded is essential to all, especially empaths and highly sensitive people who pick up emotions from other people and their environment. It means that you are present in your body and the earth. This helps you feel balanced, no matter what is going on around you. When one is grounded, they have a good understanding of what’s really important in life. You know your worth, you are respected, you think positive thoughts about yourself, people can’t play you, you have strong spiritual convictions, other people’s drama will not throw you off, self-esteem, you can see clearly through “whiners”, people seeking self-pity, cowards, etc. With the craziness of everyday life, we must try to find a moment in order to ground ourselves. Wether it’s reading a passage from the bible, meditating, or yoga. This is extremely important for our mind and spirit.Screenshot_20180711-114336As humans, we may sometimes view ourselves as invincible and have that “Go-Go” mentality. We tend to push ourselves to the limit, before we even know how to relate to it in a responsible way. We can become focused solely on what we believe is “right”, that we forget the importance in relationships with others, ourselves, or humanity. For those of you who have never meditated before, I strongly recommend a guided meditation to start with. Sometimes it can be difficult to clear our minds and focus without a painted picture. Personally, I love “Grounding and Chakra Balancing Meditation” by Debra Berndt-Maldonado. Try it for about 15 minutes a day. It can be in the morning (before tackling your day), during your lunch break, or at night before you go to bed. We forget sometimes that we are one, and maybe one, but to many. If we don’t take care of ourselves, we are of no use to any. Grounding is an essential part to the wholeness with ourselves, our minds, and our spirit. It will help us see more clearly, release limiting emotions, and allow us to live our full potential.

There’s a balance we all need. A balance to maintain homeostasis. Without balance our energy level willcause you to lose focus.
